Caroline Burghardt

Caroline Burghardt’s photographs investigate the relationships between interior and exterior spaces, both mental and physical. She is interested in the existential distances between people and the natural world, and people with each other, that is contrasted by a sense of yearning for deep but intangible connection. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows nationally including: Luhring Augustine, NY; Hudson Franklin, NY; A.I.R. Gallery, NY; Center for Visual Arts, Toledo, OH; Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, Grand Rapids, MI; The Minnesota Center for Photography, Minneapolis, MN; and Southern Exposure, San Francisco, CA. She received a BA in painting and photography from Bard College in 1997 and an MFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art in 2003.
